The Historic Motorsports Associations Portland Historics at PIR (Portland International Raceway) is this friday through Sunday. Al Unser Jr. is the Grand Marshal and the weather forecast looks great with temperatures in the 80's all three 3 days (we get rain often...it's Oregon).

If you're in the area, come out and see the action. Saturday, all the car clubs put on a great display in the park setting.

Racing was good today, but temperatures are on the raise and it could be 95+ over the weekend. That's about 110+ in a racing big Healey at speed. Tony Garmey set the pace in the '59 Corvette today, I don't think anyone will get too close this weekend. Although, his drum brake car could be a problem in the extreme heat....I'll have to climb over a couple 356's however to see the podium.
 
Fighting through electrical, cooling and clutch problems all weekend, my father-in-law crew chief had me on the grid for Sunday's feature race yesterday. Because I missed qualifying on Saturday afternoon, I was gridded in the rear at 20th. It was good race, I climbed up 10 spots and had 4 more in my site with 2 laps left when I went into T12 too hot and spun. I gathered it up and continued without loosing my positions, but couldn't make up the lost time with only two laps left. Air temperature was over 90 degrees at the time.

 
Here's a good video from one of my Sprite pals of our Saturday morning race. I make my appearance at about 3.50. There's some good dicing he has with the Fiat Abarth through the whole race.
