1953 TD Update

She's as disassembled as she'll get before the old paint comes off:

And look what's sharing a bay at the bodyshop with her:

Here's a size comparison:

Tomorrow they sandblast all the body panels that are removed from the tub & then start stripping the tub itself.

Re: 1953 TD Update

NICE! but are we looking at the TD or the Stingray? Nice Vette BTW /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: 1953 TD Update

Little TD will outshine the Vette in a short time!

Re: 1953 TD Update

Very cool.

Re: 1953 TD Update

That Vette is purty.....Are you gunna paint that TD with the motor in it? What color combo are you going with?

Re: 1953 TD Update

I think that vet has found a home. Supose the owner dosn't have enough garage?

Re: 1953 TD Update

Jack - that Vette's always in for something minor but pretty soon it'll be completely redone.

Yep, we're gonna tape everything in the engine compartment up & spray the body....going with a pale cream color - already have new tan leather.

Re: 1953 TD Update

Cream & crackers. Nice combo.

& I didn't take my camera...

...went down to body shop this morning in the pouring rain to take new hub caps & a few other items needed to finish up Jerri's Bug after the upholstery shop delivered it back to painter....

...they had sandblasted all my TD body panels & were putting the initial coat of white epoxy primer on them....body man said he took the original factory paint off them & that there was no damage, no filler, no rust anywhere....said they're as straight as when they came out of the factory!

He had one of his guys going over the 'naked' panels with an orbital sander prior to spraying the primer....then, he said he'll start going over each panel but doesn't expect to have any work to do! Glad he took photos - I'll go down tomorrow with my camera (note to self: never go to a body shop without camera!)

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

I never go anywhere or do anything for MG's without a camera.
Great to hear about how perfect your body was. They did not take the tub off the frame? How is the frame? Clean & painted?

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

Tub has already been taken off frame when frame was completely redone (& every piece of wood replaced in tub)....the car is brand new except for the paint on the body....

& I know better than to leave house without camera - it was just raining so darn hard!

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

Hint guys...Buy a few disposable cameras and toss them in every glove box you have. They might not take digital photos but they come in real handy if the grey cells are still asleep when you leave the house and, God forbid, if you ever have or witness an accident. Jack

Tony's making himself a TD wind chime for the Garagemahal! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Very exciting stuff, all those pretty, clean parts.

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

Very nice Tony, tell Rickey his paint is holding up well so far, no nicks or bangs.

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

I'll tell him, Jack...he's doing the touchups on Jerri's Bug right now...man, it was beautiful when I took her down today (& she even sat in the new drivers seat!)

Re: & I didn't take my camera...

That's progress Tony, maybe she'll even drive it.
