Can anyone tell me the weight of the 1500 engine, or point me to a place where I can find it?

Thanks

Do you need exact weight, or ballpark? Having pulled it once, I would say on the order of 200 pounds. Two guys can lift it, but it's heavier than it looks.

In my personal experience, two Air Force ROTC cadets had a hard time lifting the darned thing (more because it was difficult to lift) but it wasn't light! We hauled it into my apartment from the trunk of my BMW!

I'd put the block at about 65lbs, crank at around 35lbs, head at around 40lbs. Cam is probably around 10ish. Transmission fully assembled is around 50lbs. All and all I would put it close to 250 with the tranny. It might be a little more but I would put it at no less than for sure.

Heavy enough to make your guts poke out if you try to lift it yourself.

The block alone weighs 90 lbs. 92, the way I had it set to ship UPS.
The complete engine weighs closer to 325 than 250. A 1275 weighs 253, and it's a bunch lighter than a 1500. Does your boat really need that much anchor?

Jeepers,
I guessed at the weight based on how much I struggled moving the individual parts around the garage and carrying them to the machine shop. Never been a great judge of weight. I can't believe I underestimated that badly though...lol.

I've saved my origonal 948, just because. My kids claim it is only good for an anchor. Its the reminant of the old "keep it stock issue" that I claim to have moved beyond.
