TR2/3/3A $10 in spray paint vs. TR3's engine bay

It's amazing what two cans of $3 primer and two cans of $5 Duplicolor Leaf Green paint can accomplish! It's by no means anywhere near a professional job, but I couldn't stand having the underside of the bonnet a different color than the rest of car.

So here's the before:

Now after:

(Those are just shadows at the voltage regulator from the halogen work lights on my workbench -- not missed paint areas)

The funny thing is that they only had one shade of non-metallic flake green, and this was it. It is just a slight shade lighter than the BRG, but definitely close enough for government work!

Now I just have to figure out what is preventing the spark -- coil or wiring. Then it's on to fixing the brakes, and getting it back on the road! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Very nice. I painted mine with POR15 black under the bonnet and frame, It should be red like the rest of the car, But I can deal with it, I do agree you needed a touch up, Green and white...Good job!

Looks good. You probably could have fooled the shade by painting the bay black first. I would have darkened up the green a little. Still for a $10 job, That's great! looks 1000x better than it did.

Sammy, it seems that the after picture has no battery cables attached. Could be part of the spark problem?

Just kidding. A great job, especially for 10 bucks!

I just got an estimate to have my hood removed and repainted underneath to remove some surface rust at the reinforcements, then I added this and that and now I'm up to $1200 in detail work. As a TR nut, I can justify all of it. My wife, however, has yet to be admitted to the ward that I reside in and is not yet sold on the plan. Sigh.......

Looks great!

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gifDude, that looks awesome! I couldn't of done that. First I'd start taping, then removing stuff, then the motor would be out, next thing you know, I'd be in the middle of a frame off! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I actually did -- the primer was black. (And I used black for that very reason.)

What my wife doesn't know can't hurt me....

and she doesn't really want to know, either, for both our sakes.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

GREAT job Sammyb!!

Unfortunately, UPS showed up today (while I was out of the office, yes we do work together, family business) with the new door glasses, regulators and weatherstripping from TRF. Cat is kind of out of the bag now. This will ease the pain when the windshield shows up in the big crate.

I found the trick is to only have a few BIG cats arrive occasionally, and not constantly keep having a lot of kittens... which gives the wife kittens.

Its still an irritation, but its not a constant irritation. I find other ways to do that....
