Back during the dawn of civilization... well okay, 2007 on BCF, Roger and Lin shared with us the installation of cup holders that had been rescued from their lowly beginning in VW's. Years later I followed Lin's directions (Healey Marque Oct. 2009) when installing in my Works Rally Healey.

This time, I revisited that process in my current Ruddspeed Healey homage build... but now that it's 2025 I decided to integrate the cup holder just a bit more, making it visually a touch more integral to the package tray on my BJ7. What I did was add trim pieces to both sides of the cupholder unit. The trim pieces are sheet metal formed to match the curvature of the package tray ends and then upholstered similar to the other dash items.

Nice, you've improved my design!

When I first shared this with the forum, some would say... cup holder in a sports car? That is so wrong!

It maybe? possible to install 2 units if they're at each end the shelf tray.
4 cup holders... bring it on naysayers. LOL

Well Roger I might be brave enough to test the purist's patience with one (okay 2) cup holder.... but don't think I'd dare test fate with 4!!! That said, they probably already dismiss me as total loon!😊

I like the two-cup holder that you mounted under the parcel tray. Where did you get it? I assume you fabbed the pieces to the left and right of it that give it the nice OE appearance.
 
A bit confused... Michael, you replied to Vette but think you are referencing my post. If I'm right and you are asking about the VW cupholders. You can get them on Amazon VW part 1J0858601 , they were on a number of VW models and you can get them for about $25 from Amazon... cost more from VW dealer. And, yes, I made the end pieces.

My apologies. In backing through the string I saw them copied into one of Vette's posts and so rep[lied to him.
They look like a nice piece of gear and the way you faired them into the parcel shelf gives them an OE appearance.
How do they work in real life? Are they "substantial" in feeling?

No problem. Yes, they are your normal German high quality ... as long as you don't get a cheap knockoff, which may be less robust... this is an assumption, haven't personally checked out a knockoff.

Here's a pic of the cupholder I have in my 100. I contacted Cupholders.com and they made it custom to my specs. It is attached with one screw into the tunnel and held in place by the shift lever as shown in the pics.
